David Swinder is the owner of the End of All Music on the Oxford Square. The store carries vinyl record, 45 singles, CDs, and audio equipment. The End of All Music hosts local bands and artists to perform in-store shows as well as other events. The store is coming up on its 8th year in March.
Favorite Live Music Venue: “Proud Larry’s for sure. They’re legendary. Every great band on a certain level has played there. Larry’s is really good at getting bands that are just about to be huge. I’ve seen crazy shows there by artists who were playing FedEx Forum sized venues just a year later. Scott Caradine owns it, is a good buddy of the record store and he just crushes it with booking talent there. And they have music almost nightly.”
Favorite Local Artist: “There’s this label that a bunch of guys run called Muscle Beach Records that’s based here in town. They have several different bands but I really like all of them. Most recently, a record came out by this band called Bonus. I really like their music. I really like the Dreamland Gateway guys, the hip-hop collective. They’re really good and I think they’re getting better. Those are probably my two favorite local acts at the moment.”
Favorite Bookstore: “Square Books is like a keystone to the town. They’ve been here forever. They are arguably one of the first local businesses like ours and they succeeded through rough Amazon, big box type store times.”
On Shopping Local: “I buy my groceries from Chicory, I try to buy everything as local as possible because the money stays here. That’s how towns work. I’m big on local economy and paying local taxes. I get pretty passionate about that and the goal is to educate more and more people about how important that is. You can directly correlate where your money is spent to make this town better. There are lots of cool local restaurants that work their ass off to make our town better: Ajax, Saint Leo, City Grocery. Those are all people that live here in Oxford and spend their money here. Anywhere local, I support.”
